    Fredrick E. Mitchell enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve on 17 Nov 1942 in Detroit, MI. He was a Baker (Second Class Petty Officer) stationed aboard the USS PRESIDENT MONROE (AP-104). On 1 May 1944, BK2c Mitchell was transferred to U.S. Mobile Hospital #5. On 4 Jun 1944, he returned to the USS PRESIDENT MONROE. During the period 22 Aug 1944 to 2 Jan 1945 the MONROE was in San Pedro, CA and San Diego, CA.
