- William Niebert was a WWI veteran who lost his hearing as an artilleryman and was receiving a government pension. He and Jean lived in a converted railroad trestle and later in a trailer at the edge of the Merimack River in MO. I remember Bill as a very good natured man who was always eager to take the kids fishing or for a ride in his rowboat.
