Died:
There is some erroneous information that Antoine was killed in the River Raisin battle of 1812. It is documented that Antoine was mustered under the act of 2/6/1812 with Col Antoine Dequindre, the voluntary Riflemen of the Michigan Militia, war of 1812. His primary responsibility was as a homeguard against the Indians. There were approximately 60 French volunteers. On 8/10/1812 in Maguaga (now Wyandotte) in Trenton County MI, Antoine’s militia was to accompany a General (?) Miller’s troop, who were traveling from Monroe to Detroit via train. They were ambushed by the Indians and British soldiers who had crossed from Canada into Michigan. Antoine and one other soldier were killed on the first day of battle, 8/10/1812.

Antoine married Catherine SALIOT on 20 Jul 1795 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. Catherine (daughter of Jean Baptiste SALIOT and Madeleine JOURDAIN) was born in 1776; died in 1811 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan; was buried in 1811 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. [Group Sheet]

Buried:
About 1869 the church was destroyed and before the new church was erected all of the remains of those buried in the cemetery were removed and reburied in Mt Elliott Cemetery. Approx 1,500 bodies were moved. A monument was erected in 2010 by the French Canadian Society honoring those reburied.

Catherine died in 1811 following the birth of their youngest child.
