    Died:
    The Crimean War was between Turkey and the Russian Empire. Turkey was supported by France, Great Britain, and Sardinia. 50,000 French and 20,000 British troops disembarked on the Crimean coast north of Sevastopol in September of 1854 and battled the Russian military forces through 1855. The Russians were eventually defeated by the allied armies and were forced to withdraw. The fall of Sevastopol virtually ended the war. Allied losses were 90,000 men and the Russians lost 102,000 men.
