    Notes:

    Name:
Paul Lalonde is listed as "Paul Lalonde, Sr" in his son's Bernard's marriage record in 1921. The only other reference to Paul's middle name is in a life claim by the SSA which states the name was modified on 18 June 1976. While Elmer is not a typical French Canadian name, his mother Christy McGinnis was Scottish and Elmer (of Germanic British origin) is common in British Canada. Because Paul's first son was named Paul Elmer Lalonde and used a suffix of Jr., it is a reasonable assumption that the son's name was the same as the father based on the tradition of using the Sr/Jr suffix. Because of the marriage reference pre-dated the SSA note, Paul Lalonde's middle name is recorded in this tree as Elmer.

    Naturalization:
The naturalization record states that his native tongue was English.

    Occupation:
The 1940 U.S. Census lists his occupation as engineer. He made $1575 annual salary, which was among the highest in the neighborhood. His home was valued in the 1940 census as $70,000.

    Died:
Doris Lalonde believes Paul died sometime after WWII. Lucille Lalonde believes it was around 1948. His name is not on the tombstone at Mount Hope Cemetery where his wife Mary, son Frank, and his son's wife Alma are buried. Records show he was buried in the family plot (M-71) at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lewiston, ME. but his name is not on the headstone for the plot. The 1940 U.S. Census shows him living at 724 Lisbon St in Lewiston as a widower.

SSI Death Records show a Paul Edward Lalonde, SSN 007221128, with birth date of 2 Aug 1869 and birth place as Cornwall Ont, Canada on a SSA life claim submission. There is a note that states "18 Jun 1976: Name listed as Paul Edward Lalonde". The SSA claim date is 12 Mar 1947 which corresponds to both family interviews. This source and date will be used until more accurate death date, certificate, or death registry can be found.

Paul married Mary NERON on 7 Jan 1891 in Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada. Mary (daughter of Jean-Baptiste NERON and Mathilde BEGIN) was born in 1871 in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada; died in 1933 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine; was buried in 1933 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine. [Group Sheet]

  2. 3.  Mary NERON was born in 1871 in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada (daughter of Jean-Baptiste NERON and Mathilde BEGIN); died in 1933 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine; was buried in 1933 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine.

    Other Events:

    • Name: Mary Nero
    • _UID: 8DE915E971A1D51189730060081E63277848
    • Name: 9 Feb 1905; Marie Neron

    Notes:

According to the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Mary had 9 children, 6 of whom were living in April, 1910.

    Birth:
U.S. Census records indicate Mary was born in New York but the parish registry record of her marriage shows her birthplace as Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario. The birthplace in Cornwall is assumed to be correct because it pre-dates her move to the U.S.

Her first son Paul Elmer's birth record shows her birthplace as Canada. Her second and third son's birth records list Mary Neron's birthplace respectively as "New York state" and Fort Coventon, New York. This "Fort Coventon" could not be located but is likely Fort Covington, NY which is about 10 miles from Paul Lalonde's birthplace in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada

    Name:
Listed as Marie Neron on son Daniel's Maine Birth Record

    Buried:
She is buried in Plot M71.

    Notes:

    Married:
In the parrish entry, the priest, George Corbet, wrote the date wrong as follows: "On the seventh day of January one thousand eight hundred and ninety I the undersigned priest after one publication and a dispensation from two married Paul Lalonde; 21 years, son of Francis Lalonde and Christy McGinnis; to Mary Neron; 19 years, daughter of John Neron and Matilda Begin. Witnesses John Primeau, Alice Neron".

As both the preceding and following entries for 7 Jan 1891 stated the year correctly, it is assumed that the correct year is 1891.

The Ontario, Canada, Marriages civil record for their marriage also lists 1891 as the year of the marriage.

    Residence:
The family owned the house with no mortgage according to the 1910 U.S. Census

1871 Canada Census shows Christy to be 32 years old and Francis to be 30 years old, making her birth year abt 1839.

1901 Canada Census has entries for date of birth. Christy is listed under "McGinnis" with ethnicity listed as "Scotch". Entries show her birth date to be 10 Dec 1841 and 9 Jan 1846 for Francois. Corresponding entries in the age column are 55 (Francois) and 59 (Christy), confirming her to be 4 years older than Francois.

    Name:
The St. Polycarpe priest, F. Cholet, entered the name in the parish registry as Christy McGinnis, and her father's name as Archibald McGinnis. The registry was signed by Christy as "Christy McInnis" and by a John McInnis with what can be presumed as the correct spelling of the last name.

    Notes:

    Married:
She signed the marriage registry. The signature appears to be Christy McInnis. Another witness' signature also appears to be "McInnis", but the handwritten "I" is most likely a stylized "G".
